Online Moderation: Theory & Practice

Learn how to design and moderate online qualitative research projects, including online focus groups (text and webcam-based), and multi-day bulletin boards. Instructor Jennifer Dale will explain the most popular online moderation methods and how to incorporate them into your moderator guides.

Never designed a moderator’s guide before? No worries: Instructor Dale will be showing examples and sharing best practices. Get hands-on experience writing your own discussion guide and then using it to moderate online!

Upon completion of this 4-week course, students will have designed an online qualitative research moderator’s guide and moderated a live online discussion.

NOTE: No previous qualitative research moderation experience required. However, we do recommend that students have at least 2 years of experience directly supporting qualitative research projects, or have completed Research Rockstar’s course Managing Focus Groups.

This class includes a companion textbook, which will be delivered in Kindle format 3 business days before start of class. Students should be prepared to spend one hour per...
