Course Overview

As Market Research & Insights professionals, we collect data from people, and that activity has legal and ethical implications. We need to know the basics of privacy and security requirements so that we don’t inadvertently break a law or create a public relations nightmare. To make sure our students know how to spot the red flags that may warrant escalation to your management or legal department, we are offering this short course which includes expert interviews and handy reference sheets.

In this market research training course, Instructor Kathryn Korostoff helps students learn about key ethical and legal concepts that are commonly encountered in the market research profession.

This course is one of the Insights Association requirements for professionals seeking to attain their IPC Practitioner Certificate.

Upon course completion, students will be able to:

  • Identify situations that may include unethical behaviors
  • Identify situations that may include illegal behaviors
  • Plan research projects that will comply with the basic privacy and security requirements of GDPR and similar regulations
  • Escalate suspected breaches of ethical or legal obligations
  • Minimize the risk of breaking laws
